Thomas Ammann Fine Art AG, founded by the late Thomas Ammann and his sister Doris in 1977, deals in art by Impressionists, modern masters, as well as important post-war and contemporary artists. Doris Ammann has been managing the gallery since Thomas Ammann passed away in 1993. She was elected vice president of the Swiss Art Trading Association in 1996, became a trustee of the Johanna Liesbeth de Kooning Trust in 2003 and of an important Swiss Art Foundation in 2006.

For over 43 years, Thomas Ammann Fine Art AG has been selling outstanding paintings, drawings, and sculptures to major international private collections and museums. Highlights were the sale of Vincent van Gogh’s Portrait of Joseph Roulin (1889) to the Museum of Modern Art, New York in 1989, and Willem de Kooning’s Woman III (1953) to a prominent US private collection in 1994.

Georg Frei, art historian, joined the gallery in 1988 and has been a partner since 2013. In collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation, New York, he co-edited the first two volumes of the catalogue raisonné of Andy Warhol’s paintings and sculpture from 1961-1969, published in 2002/2004. Since 1988, he has regularly curated high-quality solo and group shows of such artists as Max Beckmann, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, Brice Marden, Robert Ryman, Willem de Kooning, and many more. All exhibitions are accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue (for further information, see publications). In 2000, he organized the monographic show Andy Warhol - Series and Singles at the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen/Basel.
